What are the things that keep crossing your mind that you just keep ignoring?

Are you getting a nudge to cut out sodas?

Do you have a fleeting thought for just a moment before you pull into the drive thru of your favorite burger joint that maybe you should just go home and cook?

What’s “eating at you” when it comes to your nutritional and health habits?

Whatever it is, please LISTEN!!

That’s your inner wisdom politely trying to get your attention. Some people might call it your sixth sense or your intuition, but whatever name you give it, it’s that nagging tug that keeps popping up.

It keeps showing up because it knows what’s best for us!

We are spiritual beings having a human experience and our internal wisdom knows that which is highest and best for us, including and especially for our bodies. They are our vessels after all.

Our physical bodies provide us the vehicle through which we get to experience this life on earth and once they stop, so do we.

One of the reasons many of us ignore these helpful hints is because of how we’ve been trained to view them. Any lapse in judgment or cave to our cravings is generally characterized as a shortcoming or failure. Our society has a strong history of food and body shaming which transforms what could and should be viewed as something beautiful into feelings of guilt.

Think about it.

The fact that we have an internal knowing that loves and cares for us so much that it gives us a nudge whenever we are too far off track is amazing! Such a powerful gift to have and be grateful for, right?

Instead, we can’t even get to gratitude because we’re so covered up with shame. And since we never want anyone else to see the shame, we hide it, keep ignoring the nudges, which generates more shame… and now, you’ve got a cycle of negative behavior and thoughts feeding each other.

This is how we end up in the hospital with huge health problems or worse.

So, how do we stop this from happening?

Glad you asked!

  1. Practice Gratitude Instead of Guilt – Be thankful for the internal wisdom that lets you know when the choices you are making need a little improvement.
  2. Let Gratitude Lead to Good Choices – Once you become grateful for the little nudges you get, you can receive them with a positive perspective and intentional action.
  3. Let Your Practice Become Perfection – Know that everyone has moments where they go off the path and eat a cookie. Lol It’s not the end of the road nor is it a bad thing! These, now rare, moments are perfect evidence of your regular practice!

It’s that simple!

Notice I didn’t say easy… lol But the good news is the more you do it, the easier it gets.
