Hello Food Lover!

Hi! I’m Nicole Monier, and ever since I was a child, I have been fascinated by (some might say, “obsessed with”) all things food!

I love preparing, cooking and experimenting with food – and the satisfaction of figuring out a quick, nourishing and delicious meal from what’s “on hand” in my pantry and fridge.

I love shopping for food – the colors and textures of the produce, the comforting familiarity of my favorite staples and the excitement of finding a new and interesting product.

And of course, I love eating food! I truly believe that food is one of life’s great pleasures, made even more so when we take the time to do it like the French do, savored slowly and paired with the company of those we cherish.

My fascination with food led me to the Cordon Bleu School of Cooking in Paris, France and launched me on a 5 year journey cooking in some of the most famous kitchens in the world.

And it was good!

Except I wasn’t. Or at least I wasn’t feeling very good.

Like so many busy, professional people , I wasn’t taking care of myself, and even though my career was food, I wasn’t eating well.

I was grabbing what I could “on the run.” Too much sugar. Too little fresh.

I was choosing what to eat for all the wrong reasons like “convenience,” what some marketing agency told me was good for me (or would make me skinny), and something that I only discovered later in life – because of how certain foods made me feel or helped me to stop feeling.

Then one day, I finally got sick and tired of being sick and tired. I knew food was the key, so I enrolled in the world renowned Institute of Integrative Nutrition and set out to discover all of the things about food that weren’t taught in culinary school.

And what a journey it has been! I have discovered just how incredible and amazing food really is as a source for pleasure of course, but also as a source of deep nourishment, authentic satisfaction, abundant vitality, connection with my deepest inner wisdom as well as my creativity and joie de vivre!

MISSION: The Mystical Kitchen was founded as a virtual gathering place where you can learn to feel good about food, cooking and eating again, and as a place for you to discover more about yourself and what makes you feel nourished, supported and alive. My mission is to generously share what I have learned on my professional and personal journey with you so that you can feel good about food again.

In The Mystical Kitchen, you find will tips and tricks that I’ve adapted from the professional kitchen to work in my real kitchen at home, cooking for my family and friends. You will get to tag along with me on shopping adventures and peek inside my pantry and fridge, as I share my secrets for pulling together meals that are simple, quick, delicious and nourishing for body and soul.

I will share stories about my adventures – and misadventures – in the world of fine dining, including how I got to know Julia Child.

And most importantly, I will guide you to becoming more aware of what your body is really asking for so you can stop being a slave to food fads and rediscover food as your most pleasurable source of health and vitality.
